Sephora Face Masks review

Hi Loves and happy Monday!

For today’s post I prepared a review of two Sephora Masks. One is a full face rose mask and second one is just a charcoal nose strip.

On Saturday I decided to pumper myself and use the full face rose mask ($6). It is supposed to brighten and moisturize your skin. I kept it on, as it said on the packaging, for 15 mins and have to say the whole process was really relaxing and felt very luxurious (I’m not used to do masks often as you can tell). After those 15 minutes I took it off and instantly felt refreshed. I massaged any leftovers of the mask into my skin. Honestly, I could feel that mask helped me with moisturizing my face more than I could see it. So visually I didn’t see much difference. Although my skin felt great! Did it brighten my complexion? I don’t think so. If so, then very slightly.

The nose strip I used on my boyfriend because he was asking me if I have this super famous black peel off mask, which I didn’t. I offered him this Sephora one and he was quite pleased with the result. Before using it don’t forget to read the instructions! I didn’t pay attention that nose, beside being clean, should also be damp. But after all, with a little help of wet towel, it got stuck to my love’s nose and worked as promised. Results were ok, without revelation. I think you could find something better for that price ($3).

Will I use this again? The nose strip – I don’t think that I’ll bother with it. The rose face mask – Maybe yes, before important event or just to pamper and spoil myself a little bit!

Did you use some of Sephora masks? Which ones? Did you like them or not? Share below! I’d love to hear about your masks experiences!

P.S. Keep your eyes peeled on the next post! It will be my June favourites!

Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream – Review

Hello Loves! Hope you have a great Monday!

For this week’s post I decided to do a review of Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream which I’ve recently purchased. And guys…! I LOVE it!

In a few posts back I was raving about Garnier BB cream and how perfect it was for my super pale complexion. I still love it though! The thing is I’m leaving with my bae for holidays July 16th to Bulgaria and since I’m so pale and easily get a sun burn (I never get tanned, always red 😭)  my boyfriend suggested that maybe I should go to solarium few times before our trip. And so I did (soon I’ll make a post about the whole experience being first time in solarium). Now I’m way darker than I used to be (read: just not so pale anymore). Any foundation/bb cream which back then was too dark for me (that’s why I switched for Garnier BB cream in shade extra light)  now is too light!

For a few days I didn’t wear any makeup but I didn’t feel comfortable enough to keep it that way. First I wanted to go to Sephora and buy a good quality bb cream from Nars or Clinique. Then I thought I don’t know how long I’ll stay that tanned and if I decide to keep it after vacation with trips to solarium or fake tanner. I decided to not spend that much money and look for a cheaper option. So I went to my drugstore to look for something that will fit my current skin tone. I was going to pick something from L’oréal but I think they just had a sale because the stand was a mess and they didn’t have a lot of products. Then I walked up to Borjois and Rimmel stands. In both I found bb creams I liked but couldn’t decide between them. I checked reviews on the internet and definite winner was Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream.

It’s not too expensive (costs around $13), it was on sale for half price so without thinking I picked it up! I chose shade 32 light beige and it matches my skin tone perfectly! I haven’t found any other foundation/cc/bb cream to match me this good! I was amazed! The only bad thing is that it is only available (at least where I bought it) in 4 shades. Some are with pink some with yellow undertones. It is definitely not enough colors for everyone. The cc cream itself is very liquid and you don’t need much to cover your face, so you have to be careful with that. I saw that it looks best applied with BeautyBlender or other makeup sponge. With fingers it looks a little bit too heavy for me. It has very good and natural coverage. I use BioOil as a moisturizer and it leaves me with a very dewy, gorgeous and glowing skin. Sometimes I like to powder my T zone. And what is super important it stays on face way longer than any bb or cc cream I’ve tried! It’s my holy grail now!

Let me know if you have used it! Do you like it or not so much? Will you try it?

SILICONE MAKEUP SPONGE review – Yay or Nay?

Hello Loves! Happy Monday!

For this week’s post I’ve decided to write a review of Silicone Makeup Sponge everybody is so crazy about at the moment.

silisponge_4_1024x1024.jpg

First of all I really like the idea of a makeup applicator that is so cheap ($9.90) and poreless which means it super easy to clean and what’s most important it doesn’t soak up any of the product! I am a very big fan of the famous original BeautyBlender and honestly very consistent purchaser.

When I’ve heard about this “perfect” but so weird product that will help me achieve even better results that my beloved BeatyBlender I was skeptical but also very intrigued. As I saw that it was available in my country still only online I just kept using my BeautyBlender. Then one time I saw it in my drugstore and it was super cheap so I just decided to buy it and try it out myself. Check how it actually works and if it’s worth the hype.

Well,  I tried to use it with my L’oréal True Match foundation and to be honest I hated it. I ended up finishing it with my fingers. Then I dotted concealer over my dark circles and any hyperpigmentations. I have to say it worked better with this more “heavy” formula. After that time I never picked it up again while doing my makeup. It took a lot of time to blend foundation with and I’m usually on the rush in the mornings. I just found it useless.

I’ve decided to make this post few days ago and before writing strictly negative review I wanted to give it one more try, just to be sure. Maybe I’m doing something wrong? I’ve searched in google how to use silicone makeup sponge and to my surprise I found a lot of tips and reviews! I’ve read that one girl didn’t like it at first exactly as me. She edited her review saying that she gave it only one star at first before she read the instructions that came with her sponge. I started to dig deeper and look through multiply tutorials.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

  • you’re supposed to use that “flat” side to blend
  • use just half amount of foundation as you would normally because it doesn’t soak up any product
  • you should blend it into your skin with circular motions or up and down till it will not be blendable any more, then tap to your skin.
  • to get to problematic places like around your nose and around eyes you can fold it creating a pick

Today, very well-educated about this product I gave it one more chance. Recently I changed my makeup routine a bit so I started with concealer first. A little goes a long way with this silicone sponge so I kept blending and blending and blending even more. I was going by all those tips I’ve learned and I have to be cruel but I still don’t like it at all. Aplication is horrible. It hurt my face. I kept making touch ups on my face with my fingers because my skin felt really cakey. I felt like it doesn’t want to blend foundation well enough into my skin leaving a lot of built up product in place you start blending. I was really frustrated and it took so much time to work foundation into my skin, to look decent, so personally I felt like it’s just not worth it. My skin also looked surprisingly dry and patchy in some places which never happened before while using BeautyBlender. Moreover BeautyBlender is so much faster and easier and you don’t even need to work half as hard to achieve that flawless effortless look. I don’t care it soaks up foundation and that you have to repurchase it quite often and it’s a bother to keep it clean all the time. Either way if I ever get fed up with it I’ll always have my fingers! Maybe I still need to practise working with this silicone sponge, but for now I’m not ready to give it a 3rd try to mess up my makeup!

Did you try it? You liked it or hated like me? Share in comments! I’m very curoius what you think!

May Favorites! Fashion & Makeup items

Hello Loves!

This Monday I wanted to share with you my favorites of the past month. My most worn items of clothing and two holy grails of makeup.

May has been a very busy month for me so everyday I was going for something comfortable to wear and very minimal makeup. I just wanted to take a shower, put my hair up, make my face acceptable looking (for me) and just throw on something and be good to go. Past month I wasn’t really in the mood to think about my outfit as I used to spend on it quite a lot of time. Those 5 items helped me to achieve that laid back, sporty but still chick and girly look with no effort at all. And here they are!

My Topshop Denim Jacket was making my every outfit so simple and stylish in the same time. It doesn’t get boring and you could pair it with almost everything! I usually wore it with black leggings, simple t-shirt, my white converse and gold hoop earings.

White converse I wore not just in May but almost everyday since it became a little warmer in Warsaw. They fit perfectly with every outfit through skirts and dresses to pants, leggings and fancy suits. They give that great pop of crisp white and make an outfit looking like you put some effort in picking it.

Brandy Melville pink suede bag it’s the cutest thing ever. Fits a lot of stuff, definitely more than you’d think, and it’s super soft. As the converse shoes it effortlessly brightens up any outfit.

Nars blush in OrgasmClassic, gorgeous coral – pink shade with golden shimmer. What else do you need? Honestly, in May I just used some bb cream and this blush. It’s all you need for that natural, flushed, glowy look. It also stays on for a very long time.

Granier BB cream in shade Extra light. Every lightest shade of BB cream I had bought (and I bought quite a lot) was too dark for me. It only matched well when I was slightly tanned. At the middle of the month I was out on a hunt for a good bb cream hoping they made better formulas for my complexion. Sometimes I was getting too oily in my T zone wearing it. I saw Garnier BB cream on a shelf in my drugstore and couldn’t believe it! They made extra light shade! The difference in shade of samples between this one and regular light shade was huge! I also never tried Garnier BB cream, even though all the good reviews I’ve read about it, because I was never a fan of the brand itself. I guess now I’m changed woman, because since I got this bb cream I can’t live without it! It’s a tinny tiny still to dark for me, but you cant’s really see it (I’m just obsessed). I asked people and nobody noticed it doesn’t fit perfectly my complexion. I guess it’s a matter of light. It gives me perfect coverage, I usually don’t go for full and prefer more natural finish. It doesn’t leave me matt but slightly glowing. I just need to touch up my nose with powder once through the day and I’m good (after applying it in the morning I don’t use any powder to set it). It’s perfect for summer and I’m super happy I decided to buy it! Such a good product! Although I’m still dreaming about Garnier will make Super Extra Light shade or that I’ll catch some more of that Sun! 😉

Getting A Tattoo? My story & Helpful Tips

Hello Loves!

Have you ever thought about getting a tattoo? You really want one but you have no idea what to get inked? Or maybe like me, you wanted one for a very long time but final decision if to do it comes and goes in waves?

Well, here I am for you, to tell you my story and give you some tips that will help get through this experience as painless and pleasant as possible. I’ll answer all your questions you may have and hopefully it will help you to make the big decision!

Let’s start with the story, shall we?

I wanted to have a tattoo since I was 13. I was a huge Johnny Depp fan, so you kinda understand. Although I didn’t know what I’d like to have tattooed. 13 was too young to get anything that permanent which I understood. When I was 17 I was thinking about getting a sparrow. That time (for a few months) I believed I’d never have better idea and I wanted to get it asap. I’m very impatient in general, probably I was even more in my teenage years.  I told my parents. They said: Ok, but wait a year. If you’ll still want this tattoo after that time you can get it. Against my impatience, I thought it was quite a good idea. So I waited. Few months later I stopped even thinking about it. I wasn’t sure if I want it anymore. When I was 21 I was so relieved I didn’t decide to do it. I wouldn’t like it. But 1 year later I started to think about having a tattoo again. This time feeling was stronger than ever. I just came back from a trip to New York and I fell in love with the city that much, without any doubt I knew that design had to be related with this place. I was sketching and trying what I would like the most. Hundreds of ideas went through my head. I decided to make it simple and quite small. I always knew my tattoo has to be descreet. After all, it was just for myself. The other rule was that it had to be mine project, 100% my drawing. Finally I decided to get just the contour (clear, simple black line) of the NY state with little black dot where NYC is. I thought I was a genius. Again, the best design I ever thought of. That I will never get bored of it and I’d love it forever. Well… as you can see on the cover photo I don’t have it. I have a flower motiv with peonie and tulip. I’m still thinking about some New York tattoo, but I want to give it a time. To make it more special I wish to do it there, when I’ll come back. As for the tattoo I have, its story starts when I met my boyfriend. He showed me he has tattoo in the same place. He did it when he turned 18. Didn’t tell anyone. He did it because he wanted it and didn’t think this through too much. I don’t think he regrets it, though. Maybe someday he would like to change it a little bit, but i believe he’s happy with it. So then I knew I had to have it in the same place. I started to go through pinterest for hours. Suddenly I saw tattoos with flower motiv and I fell that’s is! I was ready! I had the chosen place on my body, the design and the time felt right! I started to sketch again. Before, I read a lot about different kind of flowers. They’re meaning and history. I chose my favorite one which is peonie and decided to pair it with tulip which represents my boyfriend. He’s from Netherlands.

I got this tattoo made by my friend from my Academy. He’s super talented. Recently, after graduating he got into doing tattoos. I trusted him a lot and I knew he will be the only person I want to get tattoo from. The price was also funny since he was just  around a year in business and we knew each other. He did such a great job I couldn’t believe it! I love that tattoo and I couldn’t be happier I got it! It’s very feminine, kinda retro and delicate. Also it is very symbolic and looks exactly how my sketch!

Let me know how you like it!

TIPS:

  1. Before appointment meet with your tattooist few times (or as much nessecary) and talk about the project, show him/her your drawings if you have some and just talk the ideas through. It will stay on your body forever so you better be sure what you want! If you feel hesitance don’t do it. Wait a little. Nobody is pushing you. Do it in your own time when it feels right.
  2. Choose your tattooist very wisely! Whatch his/hers art and see if his/ hers style matches your idea. Everyone has their own style or preferred things they ink so you have to be sure you like it!
  3. Bring distraction(s)! For me watching youtube from my phone really helped.
  4. How much it hurts only depends on your personal pain level also the area of your body you decide to have a tattoo. Bone areas hurt the most.
  5. Eat well before appointment. Bring some drinks and snacks.
  6. Wear comfortable clothes.
  7.  First moment hurts the most, then you get used to pain. It’s not that bad I promise.
  8. Before getting tattoo buy some cream to use it later and help to heal the place. (for example: Bepanten, Alantan).
  9. When you’re done leave your tattooist a tip.
  10. After getting tattoo don’t let the place be wet. Protect it in a shower with some foil and tape.

That’s all Loves! Let me know what you think about tattoos! Do you like them? Would you do it? Or do you already have it? What is your dream tattoo?

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes & Beauty Blender? Easy, cheap DIY

Hello Loves and happy Monday! That means it’s time for another post on Olita’s blog!

You probably read the title and you thought to yourself “I should wash my brushes…”. I know very well it’s hard to find the time for washing our makeup tools in our busy lives, but we all know how super important it is to keep our face free from any germs that later cause our skin to break out.

I’m here to share with you my tip how, with just two simple ingredients, you can deeply clean your brushes and beauty blender. The secret is Coconut Oil. Yes, that’s it! We use it for everything; to cook, bake, moisture our skin, as makeup remover and many more.       I love it! I have a huge jar in my kitchen and a smaller container in my bathroom for everyday use.

Let’s get straight to the DIY, shall we?

For my Beauty Blender I use a solution of one tablespoon of coconut oil and two tablespoons of antibacterial liquid soap. First I put the oil in a glass bowl and warm it up in a microwave, just for 15-30 seconds to help it melt. Then I add soap and mix. (Sometimes I add some warm water to the solution when I see that my beauty blender is not that dirty. When it is though, I just use more oil and soap.) I put my Beauty Blender in the bowl and squeeze it few times. Then, rinse under warm water. In that moment you can already see how well solution works. After “pre-wash” I leave it in mixture for a few hours more.

3

After it lay a decent amount of time in its bath I rinse it under water. To not let bacteria get to the drying sponge I put it in microwave for 10-15 second and wait. If it’s still wet I repeat. And that’s all!

6

Let’s get now to brushes!

I try to clean them as often as I can. When I use foundation brush I wash it after every use. The other brushes once or twice a week. Sometimes more often. Depends how mush I used them that week.

To clean those babies cleansing mixture is the same as for Beauty Blender. I just prefer instead of a bowl use a plate. I dip brush in oil-soap mix and, to not make it dirty, I clean it on my hand. With the circulate motion I swirl brush on my hand and then rinse with fresh warm water. Depending how dirty it is I repeat the step until foam is 100% white.

4

I always let them dry laying on a flat surface, because if I put it in a mug the glue that holds brush together will slowly dissolve and that will brake the brush. And we don’t want that, do we?

5

And here you have it loves! Hope it helps some of you save some money if you were going to buy some special makeup brush cleanser. Just two ingredients and your brushes are perfectly clean!

Was it helpful? Do you have some other ways to clean your brushes and makeup sponges? Let me know! I’d love to read your hacks!
