BRONZE SUMMER MAKEUP ROUTINE

Today I’d like to share with you my new summer makeup routine. All the sweat and heat outside can really mess up my face fast so I came up with this routine that will keep my skin feeling light but will also give me that bronze glow, so much needed in a summertime!

I started to use fake tan on my body and face from time to time, when I feel like being more bronze or bronze at all. I’m naturally super pale person and when sun hits me all I get later is red and irritated skin. 😦 But that’s what is fake tan for, right?

Why am I even talking about fake tan when I was supposed to present my makeup routine? The thing is when I use the fake tan I need to pick cosmetics in darker shade – foundation and concealer. The routine below is quite versatile and I only change these 2 products depending on if I’m tanned or not. I feel this routine is very universal so you can repeat it yourself easily with the products you already own and match your skintone.

P.S. I’m describing my routine in order in which I like to apply all my products.

So without more rumbling here it is, my bronze summertime makeup routine!

Recently I finished up my trusty Color Correcting Liquid Primer in Green from NYX. Even though I really liked this product I decided to look for something else that will combine smoothness of the base with color correction. I went to NYX store and got this Studio Perfect Primer in green. As a start to my makeup I apply small amount with my hands, gently spreading around my face. Before the base I like to use moisturiser on my face and let it sit for a while to sink in to my skin.

Then I move to foundation. When I’m pale I only use my MAC Face and Body foundation. When I’m tanner I like to mix it with 123 Perfect CC cream by Bourjois. Depending on my skintone I mix them both in different proportions or when I’m very tan I use only CC cream. To apply foundation I also use my fingers. I find this technique makes my foundation to blend with my skin better leaving very light and natural effect than when I’m using a brush or a beauty blender. Therefore for a heavier coverage I’d recommend using a brush.

To complete my skin base I use NARS concealer under my eyes and then set all my face with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Powder. When I’m tanner I prefer to use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer.

 

B R O W S  &  B R O N Z E

As my skin is ready I start with shaping and adding color. First to my brows with ka-BROW Cream-Gel by Benefit and then with Hoola bronzer under my cheekbones, on the sides of my nose, at the top of my forehead and under my jawline. I like to make my face a little sculpted and bronzed. I always add little by little. It’s easier to add bronzer than take it off. It leaves my skin looking sun kissed and pretty.

After bronzer I move to my favourite Nars Orgasm blush that leaves my cheeks with beautiful color and golden pink shimmer highlighting my cheekbones. Since it’s summertime and usually quite hot outside I set everything with NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray. After setting spray is dry I put on Sephora Outrageous Curl mascara.

What I Got for My Birthday? (FURLA bag and Beyoncé concert!!!)

Instead writing a blog post on Monday as I usually do, I decided to do it today and share with you what I’ve been gifted for my birthday this year.

disclaimer: I don’t mean to brag. I understand those things are expensive and of course I don’t NEED them. I just want to share with you my joy and how blessed I feel to be given such beautiful presents. ❤

I was born on March 20th and this year it fell on Tuesday. Last weekend me and my family went to Germany for a few days and I didn’t get much sleep. I was really tired and on Monday I had to go to work. Even though I never used to skip school or take a day off of work for my bday, this time I felt I should reward myself and let myself celebrate this one day! So I took March 20th off. I’m usually so busy I don’t have much time to pumper myself. If I find a moment it’s mostly just food and favorite TV show. This time seemed to be pretty special, even though nothing unusual has occurred that day. Maybe I felt like celebrating it a little bit more as I used to…

Definitely I had an amazing day! After waking up I went to the gym and came back home to wonderful breakfast my lovely boyfriend prepared me. As he worked this day from home we could be together all day. 🙂 After the breakfast I went to take a long shower and took time to make a peeling and moisturise my body (which I never do, ups!), later giving myself a little pedi and mani. We watched together some tv show we’re into now (“Mom” with Anna Farris) and then after my bf’s work was done we started to get ready to go out for a dinner! Meal was fantastic (I got a cream – truffle pasta), so was our service and drinks!

Long story short I had a great time! Well, I think I can say we both did, actually 😉

For the gifts, this year they got super fancy! To continue my tradition of picking my gift myself every year (I always need/want particular thing), this year I was blessed with a little FURLA bag! I have never owned a designer bag and this one is just a dream come true! Look how pretty it is! And the quality is beyond amazing! I hope it will last me years and years!

For the second gift, my boyfriend got us tickets for a BEYONCÉ’s and Jay-Z’s concert when they’re gonna perform in Warsaw on June 30th as a part of their OTR II tour! I’m beyond excited for this experience! I just wanna cry when I think about seeing Bey live! AAAA!

L’OREAL VOLUMINOUS LASH PARADISE Review: Is it a good dupe of Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara?

This week I wanted to make a review of my newest makeup purchase.

I was on a trip to Amsterdam and I realised I need a new mascara. At the airport I thought I’ll use the occasion of being in a duty free zone and get myself some good quality mascara, just to try. I was going through more expensive makeup brands, from Chanel to YSL, but couldn’t decide on any of them. Finally I remembered that since I got my Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara I always wanted to try its dupe everyone is talking about, the L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara!

With a quite a big difference in price (Better Than Sex is $23, Lash Paradise $10) the two of them seem to look very similar. Pink packaging and the wand, maybe Too Faced version has a little bit more of that hourglass shape to it (on a picture above it’s obvious, in real life they look more alike).

How did it work?

I have to say for the first 2-3 days I was amazed! I thought I’m not gonna buy anything else from now on but only this L’Oreal mascara. I thought it was even better than Too Faced mascara. It separated my lashes so beautifully with a perfect amount of product. They looked very long and thick as I love them to. I hate to have clumpy lushes and this mascara was just magic! I didn’t have to comb through them even once.

The “Paradise” didn’t last long, because after few days of using it I’ve been seeing many black crumbs of the product under my eyes. I couldn’t believe it was happening! It looked like you’re using very old mascara that is just too dry and during the day falls down from your eyelashes leaving ugly trace of black spots in under eye area.

Maybe I picked an old one (but it was still covered in paper – plastic packaging) or maybe it’s not as good as people say. This is of course, very subjective opinion about this product. I just know from my experience I won’t give it a second try.

HOW TO GET IN SHAPE FOR SUMMER: tips from someone who tried it all and hates exercise

The winter is fortunately coming to an end and soon we’re gonna lose the heavy layers of clothing and switch to lighter and shorter pieces. In summertime, since the hot weather makes you wear more reviling clothing it’s obvious you want to look your best. Maybe you want to lose a little bit of that winter weight everyone puts on, since you need those extra calories to stay warm, and you treated yourself with more junk food and chocolate than usual? Or maybe it was to cold to go out for a jog or you simply preferred to stay in and watch Netflix than go to the gym?

Don’t worry! I’m here for you to motivate you and give you new perspective about working out and eating! Believe me, it’s all coming from a very lazy person who loves food and hates to work out.

For about last 6 years I was constantly struggling with eating right and keep doing some kind of exercise. I’m vegetarian since I’m 11 years old and during last 2 years I’ve tried about 5 different diets to see if I can lose weight. I’ve been twice on Lemonade detox and lost a lot of weight but very soon I’d come back to my previous weight.

I hate to work out so I was trying to do everything else than that. To the gym I was going at first with my boyfriend when we started to live together, but I hated it so much it felt like punishment. Then I stopped and went from binge eating to starving myself. I couldn’t keep my weight steady. I ate too healthy or too badly. There was never in between.

Nowadays I feel like I found my balance and that’s why I wanted to share with you my tips.

One month ago I weighted myself and I was (and still am though) the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life and that really scared me. I decided to join the gym and do whatever I felt like there. No strings attached. The only rule will be I won’t quit. I’ll decide each time I go what I want to do, which machine to use or which fitness class to attend and just do it. Since then passed over one month and I’m still going! I go every other day and I can’t express how happy I feel that I continued. I’m proud of myself for not giving up! I can see results (little but still!) in my body already!

The whole process to get healthy and fit I decided to do step by step, not like I used to do from day to day cut all carbs and go to the gym everyday with a planned work out routine. For today is just the gym. I didn’t change how I eat yet.

I want the exercise and healthy foods become my lifestyle not a detox or a short-term diet. That’s why I decided to go so slowly. Few days ago I cut alcohol (before I went a little crazy with wine). I’m not saying I’ll never drink wine again. I will, maybe in a month or next week and that perspective keeps me sane. I’ll just try to cut those bad foods from my diet one by one switching to delicious and healthy plant-based meals.

Today, even though I didn’t change completely my diet, I already feel so much better mentally and physically. I just feel like I’m finally on a way to balanced and healthy life!

Here’re are just some few of my tips to keep you motivated! It’s never too late for a healthy change!

  1. Focus on your health not your weight
  2. Search internet for inspiration (instagram is amazing)
  3. Find kind of exercise you love doing
  4. Start slowly, step by step. don’t worry it takes you longer to get to your dreamed body. it will be worth it and forever!
  5. Don’t go on a diet, it’s not worth it. focus on eating healthy and balances meals.
  6. Treat yo-self! it’s not a punishment! you have a party next week! go ahead, have a drink 😉 maybe just one less than usual
  7. Change it up if you don’t like routine
  8. If you don’t have any idea what to do you can ask gym instructor to help and guide you do best exercise for you
  9. Maybe try a fitness challenge?
  10. Go work out with a friend!
  11. Instead of buying a snack to treat yourself, buy something different like new nail polish or a lip balm
  12. Cook homemade food more often, you know what you add in restaurants you can never be sure
