How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes & Beauty Blender? Easy, cheap DIY

Hello Loves and happy Monday! That means it’s time for another post on Olita’s blog!

You probably read the title and you thought to yourself “I should wash my brushes…”. I know very well it’s hard to find the time for washing our makeup tools in our busy lives, but we all know how super important it is to keep our face free from any germs that later cause our skin to break out.

I’m here to share with you my tip how, with just two simple ingredients, you can deeply clean your brushes and beauty blender. The secret is Coconut Oil. Yes, that’s it! We use it for everything; to cook, bake, moisture our skin, as makeup remover and many more.       I love it! I have a huge jar in my kitchen and a smaller container in my bathroom for everyday use.

Let’s get straight to the DIY, shall we?

For my Beauty Blender I use a solution of one tablespoon of coconut oil and two tablespoons of antibacterial liquid soap. First I put the oil in a glass bowl and warm it up in a microwave, just for 15-30 seconds to help it melt. Then I add soap and mix. (Sometimes I add some warm water to the solution when I see that my beauty blender is not that dirty. When it is though, I just use more oil and soap.) I put my Beauty Blender in the bowl and squeeze it few times. Then, rinse under warm water. In that moment you can already see how well solution works. After “pre-wash” I leave it in mixture for a few hours more.

After it lay a decent amount of time in its bath I rinse it under water. To not let bacteria get to the drying sponge I put it in microwave for 10-15 second and wait. If it’s still wet I repeat. And that’s all!

Let’s get now to brushes!

I try to clean them as often as I can. When I use foundation brush I wash it after every use. The other brushes once or twice a week. Sometimes more often. Depends how mush I used them that week.

To clean those babies cleansing mixture is the same as for Beauty Blender. I just prefer instead of a bowl use a plate. I dip brush in oil-soap mix and, to not make it dirty, I clean it on my hand. With the circulate motion I swirl brush on my hand and then rinse with fresh warm water. Depending how dirty it is I repeat the step until foam is 100% white.

4

I always let them dry laying on a flat surface, because if I put it in a mug the glue that holds brush together will slowly dissolve and that will brake the brush. And we don’t want that, do we?

And here you have it loves! Hope it helps some of you save some money if you were going to buy some special makeup brush cleanser. Just two ingredients and your brushes are perfectly clean!

Long4Lashes – Review – Best Serum for Longer & Thicker Lashes!

Hello loves and happy Monday!

In march I was thinking briefly about getting eyelashes extensions. I saw on instagram how gorgeous girls looked with them on and I wanted to try it myself. What I didn’t like about the extensions was their price. And that you have to repeat it monthly. So I waited. Then I stumbled across a review (I believe it was honest, author wasn’t affiliated with the brand) of eyelash serum. She said “I don’t even put mascara on, because lashes would disturb me when I wear glasses by touching the lenses” (so long!!) She also said her lashes looked like fake ones (long, thick and shiny), but they were 100% natural. Then she showed some pictures before and after and promised it will work on anyone. Full results to be seen in 6 months of daily use. Well, it’s quite some time – I thought.

Few weeks later my drugstore had annually sale, 49% off all beauty products. While picking powders and eyeliners I saw lash serum by Oceanic, which I’ve read review about earlier. It was on sale too, so without hesitation I grabbed it and put it in my basket. It’s not super expensive, but neither super cheap. I don’t know if it wasn’t on sale I would have taken it. But guys! Thank God I did!

Well, I haven’t used an eyelash serum in my life before this one, but I feel very lucky I didn’t have to go through bunch of other not so good ones to finally find this! I also can’t give you a full review and show how my eyelashes look after 6 month since I’ve been using it for like 2 weeks, but OMG! I’ve been using it just for 2 weeks and I can already see results! My lashes are so much longer and seem thicker. I feel like I even have more of them! When I put mascara on they look super long and gorgeous! You should use it only once per day, before going to sleep on a clean face (means no make up!) just on your lush line. I can’t recommend you this serum enough and it’s just the start of my journey of using this product! I’ll update you later after around 2 months of usage and we will see if this excitement is still real!

For now I leave you with Long4Lashes website so you can read all about it.

Makeup April Favorites

Hello Loves!

Since it’s May the 1st I decided to share with you my favourite makeup (and one skincare) products of the past month! I’ve seen those posts all over WordPress and I thought it would be really fun to give you a little glimpse of what I was enjoying  this past month.

Some of those products are even more than just one month favourites, because I’ve been using them for much longer. The rest I picked up from my makeup collection or freshly purchased from drugstore to simply check them out but actually getting to enjoy them for those long 30 days.

  1. Nivea Soft cream I love this moisturizer mostly because of its price and how well it works with my skin! It does its job as well as some of the expensive moisturizer I had purchased months ago and honestly I don’t see a sense to ever going back and spending again so much money.
  2. L’oreal True Match I’ve heard a lot about this foundation and honestly at first I didn’t like it that much. It looked dry on my skin leaving a weird texture. Then I decided to mix it with my moisturizer (Nivea Soft) and a miracle happened! Since I turned it into a BB cream it’s a revelation! It looks exactly like my skin (it always hard for me to find such a pale toned foundation) and thanks to moisturiser I’m left with gorgeous and dewy skin. Then, when I’m still left with some blemishes I use it without mixing with cream and gently cover any imperfections.
  3. NYX Correcting Liquid Primer in Green I randomly picked it up when I was in the NYX store. It gives very subtle results reducing redness but it works perfectly on my sensitive skin. It doesn’t leave the “satin” finish but a little bit more sticky/foundation feeling. It doesn’t bother me, because I found out that silicone-ish primer doesn’t always work the best on my skin after wearing it the whole day.
  4.  Vichy Transparent Powder Great setting powder. That’s all I can say.
  5. NYX Tinted Brow Mascara It puts my brows into place and gives them a subtle colour. I really like it.
  6. Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara Best mascara I’ve used in my life. For me it’s better than any high-end mascara. I guess it’s my every month favourite!
  7. Maybelline Liquid Eyeliner in Satin I don’t use it very often but I did just picked it up in a drugstore. I’m not everyday eyeliner person, so for me it’s enough. I find it very easy to use comparing to other applicators, although it’s quite tricky to correct mistakes.
  8. Urban Decay Naked Flushed in Strip The blush from this trio is my go to. Very natural, pretty pink shade without shimmer.
  9. Too Faced Candlelight Glow HIghlighter I got it as a gift from my boyfriend and I love it to pieces! It’s a perfect highlight for my pale skin! I bet it looks incredible on any skintone too! Very pigmented and packaging is to die for! It’s Too Faced so duuhh!
